M.Sc. (NURSING) COURSE

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR M.SC. (NURSING) COURSE

Total No. of Seats: 20

The following courses for the degree of Master of Science in Nursing are offered at the college. The College has a total annual intake of 20 seats and as such 10 seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to Sikh Minority Community on all-India basis.  These seats are further distributed as under:

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should fulfil the following minimum conditions to become eligible for admission to M.Sc. Nursing Course. The Test will be open to candidate who:

  • is resident of India and belongs to Sikh Community (for Sikh Minority Quota Only)
  • should be a registered Nurse and registered Midwife or equivalent with any state Nursing Registration Council.
  • passed B.Sc. Nursing/B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing/ Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate from an institution recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
  • Minimum one year of work experience after declaration of final result of B.Sc. Nursing or Minimum one year work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. (N) candidates at the date of counselling.
  • candidate shall be medically fit.

Entrance/Selection

The selection of the candidates for admission to the course shall be made on merit, based on the marks obtained by them in the qualifying entrance examination.  The decision of the selection board shall be final. The selected candidates shall be required to deposit the fees on the day of counselling, failing which the seat will be offered to the next deserving candidate on the waiting list.

Duration
Duration of the course shall be 2 years.

B.SC. (NURSING) COURSE

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR B.SC. (NURSING) COURSE

Total No. of Seats: 100

There are in all 100 seats out of which 50 seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to Sikh Community from all over India, as per Punjab Government Notification dated 3rd April 2001, and the remaining 50 seats are open to all communities of the Punjab Domicile only

Eligibility Criteria

The B.Sc. Nursing course shall be open only to female candidates.

The admission will be open to a candidate who– 

  • has attained, or shall be attaining, the age of 17 years, but shall not be completing 35 years on 31/12/2023.
  • has obtained a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/BC) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology      taken together and passed in English individually at Senior Secondary Part II examination (class 12 of 10+2 stream), or an equivalent examination from the recognized statutory Board/University. (The candidate should have passed this examination in the annual examination held in March/April 2023 or earlier.  Those who are placed in compartment in the annual examination 2023 or who are already in compartment and fail to clear the same in the supplementary examination 2023 shall not be eligible).
  • Is medically fit.

Entrance/Selection Test

The selection shall be strictly as per merit of entrance test examination. The candidate should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English Subjects as regular candidate from a recognized institution situated in the State of Punjab only except for the exemptions wherever applicable and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/BC) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together and passed in English individually. English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible.

Duration
Duration of the course shall be four years including internship.

POST BASIC B.SC. (NURSING) COURSE

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR POST BASIC B.SC. (NURSING) COURSE

Total No. of Seats: 40

There are in all 40 seats out of which 20 seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to Sikh Community from all over India, as per Punjab Government Notification dated 3rd April 2001, and the remaining 20 seats are open to all communities of the Punjab Domicile only.

Eligibility Criteria

The Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing course shall be open only to female candidates who:

  • has passed General Nursing and Midwifery course from a recognized Institute and is registered with respective State Nursing Council as approved by Indian Nursing Council (I.N.C). In Case, the candidate is in service, the application should route through the employer.
  • has passed Senior Secondary (Part II), i.e. 10+2 examination or any other examination or its equivalent there to.
  • shall be medically fit.

Entrance/Selection 

The selection of the candidates for admission to the course shall be made on merit, based on the marks obtained by them in the qualifying entrance examination, based on syllabus of GNM. The decision of the selection board shall be final. The selected candidates shall be required to deposit the fees on the day of counselling, failing which the seat will be offered to the next deserving candidate on the waiting list.

Duration 

Duration of the course shall be 2 years.

G.N.M. COURSE

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR GNM COURSE

Total No. of Seats: 60

There are in all 60 seats out of which 30 seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to Sikh Community from all over India, as per Punjab Government Notification dated 3rd April 2001, and the remaining 30 seats are open to all communities of the Punjab Domicile only.

Eligibility Criteria

 The General Nursing and Midwifery course shall be open only to female candidate who

  • has passed Senior Secondary (Part II), i.e. 10+2 examination of the Punjab School Education Board or an equivalent examination from any other Board/University, preferably with Science subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with not less than 40% marks in aggregate, Candidates of other stream are also eligible.
  • has studied Punjabi upto Matric standard (This is not applicable to candidates seeking admission under category 5.1 - A, i.e. against seats open to candidates belonging to Sikh Community on All-India basis).
  • has attained, or shall be attaining, the age of 17 years, but shall not be completing 35 years on 31/12/2023.
  • is a domicile of the State of Punjab (in the case of persons seeking admission to seats under category 5.2 - B above)
  • shall be medically fit.

Entrance/Selection 

The selection of the candidates for admission to the course shall be made on merit, based on the marks obtained by them in the qualifying examination, i.e. 10+2. The decision of the selection board shall be final. Preference will be given to the candidates who have completed 10+2 in Medical Stream followed by Non-Medical, Commerce & Arts.

The selected candidates shall be required to deposit the fees within 72 hours after the selection list being displayed on the College Notice Board, failing which the seat will be offered to the next deserving candidate on the waiting list.
