Activities

January 2025

·      On 17th January, 2025, Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing organized “COMIENZO” for Fresher nursing students in Auditorium of Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research. Dr. Manjit Singh Uppal (Vice-Chancellor, SGRD UHS), Dr. A.P Singh (Dean, SGRD UHS) graced the occasion with his gracious presence. Dr. Manpreet Kaur (Principal, SGRD CON) delivered welcome speech. Dr. Manjit Singh Uppal encouraged nursing students for enhancing the standard of nursing and wish them for their better future. Nursing students participated in various cultural events like Group Dance, Bhangra and Modeling competition with lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Topper students from all the courses were given cash prizes along with certificates. Miss Harjanatpreet Kaur (B.Sc.(N) 1st Year) student was crowned with the title “MISS. FRESHER”. Miss Anjani (B.Sc.(N) 1st Year) and Miss. Ramandeep Kaur (GNM 1st Year) was awarded with the title “1st and 2nd RUNNER UP” respectively.

·      On 21st January, 2025, Students of B.Sc.(N) Semester-V of Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Amritsar visited Pingalwara, Manawala, Amritsar on  Students got an opportunity to meet the inmates and also witness various services provided by Pingalwara. Faculty and students distributed various essentials to the inmates.

·      On 25th January, 2025,  National Voter’s Day was celebrated on  the theme of  "NOTHING LIKE VOTING, I VOTE FOR SURE" in the AC Hall, Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Sri Amritsar, as per instruction by Govt. of Punjab and UGC. Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Principal, Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Sri Amritsar welcomed all the guests and students. Dr. Anupama Mahajan, Director Principal, Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Sri Amritsar emphasized upon exercising the right of voting. A Pledge Taking Ceremony was also held. Video regarding importance of voting was also played for the awareness. Essay Writing and Slogan Writing Competition based on theme, were held for the students on 24.01.2025 and students were awarded with prizes.

February 2025

·     On 1st February, 2025, Under the able guidance of Dr. A.P. Singh, Dean, SGRDUHS , Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Vallah, Amritsar, organized a National Workshop on “Saving Tiny Lives: Neonatal Resuscitation Program” Co-sponsored by TNAI Punjab State. The workshop was awarded with 5 CNE points from Punjab Nurses Registration Council, Chandigarh. Around 70 delegates registered for the workshop. Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Organizing Chairperson in her inaugural address welcomed all and emphasized the importance of learning the skills of neonatal resuscitation.  Dr. Manjit Singh Uppal, Vice-Chancellor gave valuable insights on importance of neonatal resuscitation and congratulated all the delegates for their commitment to learn. Dr. Amanpreet Kaur (SNAI Advisor, TNAI Punjab State) gave orientation of TNAI. Dr. Khushwant Kaur, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Peadiatrics, SGRD IMS&R gave an informative talk on “Introduction to NRP”. Ms. Jahanara Rahman, Assistant Professor, Rufaida College of Nursing, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi elaborated upon “Preparation for birth and immediate care of new born”. Ms. Rupinder Deol, Professor, College of Nursing AIIMS, Rishikesh presented on “Positive Pressure Ventilation”. Dr. Rimple Sharma, Professor cum Principal, College of Nursing, AIIMS, Jammu, shared valuable knowledge on “Care of Child on Mechanical Ventilation” by explaining modes of ventilation, weaning from ventilation. Post lunch, all the delegates were divided into three groups for “Hands on Training”. Further Ms. Karanjeet Kaur, NNF educator emphasised on "Postnatal Resuscitation Care". Certificates were given to all the attendees of workshop. Workshop ended with Vote of Thanks by Ms. Manmeet Kaur, Organizing Secretary & Associate Professor, SGRD College of Nursing followed by a group photograph.

·     On 4th February, 2025 Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Sri Amritsar in collaboration with Sri Guru Ram Das Rotary Cancer Hospital, Sri Amritsar celebrated World Cancer Day on the theme “United by Unique” organized by faculty of Department of Medical Surgical Nursing under the aegis of ONAI Punjab Chapter. At SGRD College of Nursing, activities such as Wall Painting and Model Making were organized in which GNM 2nd Year students participated with enthusiasm. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Meena Sudan, Professor, SGRD Rotary Cancer Hospital, Vallah, Amritsar followed by Unfolding of theme by M.Sc.(N) 2nd  year student. Various faculty members, RSO, Radiation Technologist and around 100 patients along with their attendants had participated in this event. Health talk on cancer, its causes, common symptoms, screening, preventive measures, demonstration on breast self-examination were given by GNM 2nd Year. Social Campaign regarding awareness of cancer was conducted by Post Basic B.Sc.(N) 1st Year students.

March 2025

·      Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing of Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Sri Amritsar celebrated International Women Day on the theme “Accelerate Action” on 12th March, 2025 at Postnatal Ward of Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital. The program started with Welcome cum Introductory Speech by M.Sc.(N) 2nd Year students followed by Floral Welcome of Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Principal, SGRD College of Nursing. A detailed presentation on Women's achievements in health and other fields of life was given by M.Sc.(N) 2nd year students. Role Play, Debate and Poster Competition were organized by B.Sc.(N) Semester-VII students. Fun games for Nursing Supervisors and female attendants of the patients admitted at post natal ward were also arranged to mark their participation. All the winners of fun games and competitions were awarded with prizes.

·      The students of M.Sc. Nursing 1st year organized Workshop on Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) on 14 March 2025. The event captured enthusiastic participation by Post basic B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students and B.Sc. Nursing students V Semester (70 participants) from Sri Guru Ram Das college of Nursing, Vallah, Amritsar and Khalsa College of nursing Amritsar respectively. Principal Dr. Manpreet Kaur delivered a heartfelt welcome speech, emphasizing the importance of the workshop in enhancing Nursing Education and after the inaugural ceremony participants were oriented about the OSCE objectives. A series of sessions conducted by moderators about OSCE and hands on training was provided in the afternoon sessions.

·      Department of Child Health Nursing of SGRD College of Nursing celebrated  “National Vaccination Day” at Paediatric OPD of Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital, Vallah, Sri Amritsar, on 28th March, 2025. Role play was performed by students of GNM 2nd Year and B.Sc.(N) Semester- V, to create awareness among parents regarding the importance of immunization for children.

April 2025

·        Department of Community Health Nursing of Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Sri Amritsar celebrated World Health Day on the theme “Healthy Beginning, Hopeful Futures” on 11th & 12th April, 2025 at Pediatric OPD of Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital, Sri Amritsar and Poster Competitions and Exhibition at SGRD College of Nursing, Sri Amritsar respectively. On 11th April, GNM 3rd Year students create awareness regarding 'Essential New Born Care' in Pediatric OPD followed by Role Play on the topic 'Importance of immunization' organized by B.Sc.(N) Semester-VI. On 12th April, Poster Competition was held followed by an Exhibition. Winners were awarded with Prizes and Certificates.

·        24th April, 2025, BK Sunaina and BK Ishu delivered an interactive session to encourage upon spiritual growth, positivity & personal growth for B.Sc.(N) 1st Year students.

May 2025

·        Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing organised National Conference on International Nurses Day (NATCON 2025) on 17th  May, 2025 on the theme "Navigating Work Place Risks: Safeguarding Nurses Against Occupational Hazards". Punjab Nurses Registration Council, Chandigarh had awarded this conference with 5 CNE Hours. The Registration received an overwhelming response with participation of nearly 250 delegates comprising Nursing Faculty, Nursing Officers and Students.The National Conference was inaugurated by Honorable Chief Guest Ms. Kavita Khasa, Deputy Nursing Advisor, MoHFW, Special Invitee Dr. A.P Singh, Dean, SGRD University of Health Sciences, Dr. B.C Sarin, Medical Superintendent, SGRD Charitable Hospital, Dr. Sahiba Kukreja, Dean Academics, SGRDUHS, Ms. Iqbal Kaur, Nursing Superintendent, SGRD Charitable Hospital, Amritsar, Organizing Chairperson Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Principal, Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Amritsar and Organizing Secretary Dr. Amandeep Kaur Bajwa, Professor, Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Amritsar and Dr. Sukhbir Kaur, Associate Professor. Conference began with Shabad Gayan followed by lamp lighting by all the Dignitaries and Resource Persons. After inaugural session and high-tea, interactive sessions were held by Eminent Speakers Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Professor cum Principal, SGRDCON,Col. Rajinder Kaur Nanda (Retd.), Nursing Superintendent, PIMS, Jalandhar, Ms. Manjinder Kaur, Senior Nursing Officer, Infection Control, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Dr. Reena Jairus, Professor, College of Nursing CMC, Ludhiana imparted knowledge on different topics on Occupational Hazards. In concurrent session, Scientific session provided an opportunity to present Research Papers. Post Lunch sessions included a comprehensive talk on "Mental Health & Well-being of Nurses" by Ms. Charlotte Ranadive, Principal, Army College of Nursing, Jalandhar followed by panel discussion moderated by Dr. Sukhbir Kaur, Associate Professor, SGRDCON. Various panelists included Ms. Kamalpreet Kaur, Assistant Nursing Superintendent, AIIMS, Mohali, Ms. Nancy, Officer Incharge, Nurisng Dept. Homi Baba Cancer Hospital, Sangrur, Dr. Paramjot Bindra, Operational Manager, SGRDIMS&R, Ms. Karanjeet Kaur, NNF Educator, SGRDIMS&R, Ms. Kiranjot Gill, Nurse Educator, Apollo Hospital, Panelists shared their own experiences and discussed about occupational safety measures adopted at their workplaces. Conference concluded with honouring of all sponsors, award of best Oral and Poster Presentation, followed by feedback session from the participants.

June 2025

·        Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing organised Intercollegiate Quiz Competition and Workshop on occasion of World Schizophrenia Day on 12th June, 2025. Punjab Nurses Registration Council, Chandigarh has awarded this event with 5 CNE hours. More than 200 delegates registered for the workshop and 15 teams from Various Colleges all over Punjab participated in Quiz Competition. The event started with workshop and Eminent Speakers Dr. Amandeep Kaur Bajwa, HOD Dept. of Psychiatric Nursing, Dr. Amanpreet Kaur, Principal, Khalsa College of Nursing, Amritsar. Dr. Renjith R. Pillai, Additional Professor, PGIMER, Chandigarh highlighted about Schizophrenia and Integrated approaches about its Management. Dr. Amandeep Singh Associate Professor, Clinical Psychologist, Dept. of Psychiatry, SGRD Charitable Hospital, Vallah, Amritsar, Dr. Reena, Medical Social Worker, Vallah, Sri Amritsar, Dr. Nidhi Arora, Rehabilitation Psychologist, The Hermitage, Sri Amritsar and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Clinical Psychologist, Institute of Mental Health, Sri Amritsar imparted Hands on Training regarding various psychosocial therapies used in Schizophrenia management. Dr. Manjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, SGRD UHS was the Chief Guest, emphasized on importance of the day and Schizophrenia Management. Ceremony ended with Vote of Thanks by Dr. Amandeep Kaur Bajwa. Intercollegiate Quiz Competition was carried out in which 4 Qualified Teams participated in the Quiz Competition. TEAM DAFFODIL from SGRD College of Nursing won FIRST PRIZE, TEAM JASMINE from MHRDAV College of Nursing, Jalandhar got SECOND PRIZE and Team Lily from Royal Institute of Nursing, Jaito Sarja, Batala scored THIRD PRIZE. After Quiz, Closing ceremony and Prize Distribution was carried out. Dr. Anupama Mahajan, Director Principal, SGRD IMS&R honoured the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Clinical Psychologist, IMM Amritsar, was Guest of Honours for the ceremony. Chief Guest & Guest of Honour were honored by the organizing committee followed by Prize Distribution in which winners of  competition were awarded with monetary prize of Rs. 11,000/- , 9000/- and 6000/- for winner, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up respectively. Students who won In-House Poster Competition were also given prizes.In the end, Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Gurjeet Kaur, Assistant Professor and delegates were rewarded with certificates.

·        As per guidelines by Honourable Health Minister. Nursing students of SGRD CollSingh, Dr. Paramjot Bindra and Ms Onkardeep Kaur actively participated in the Anti-Dengue Activity on 13.06.2025 by conducting a survey to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites in the university campus They visited potential breeding places, identified for the presence of larvae and eliminated the breeding places and educated the residents.

·        Department of Community Health Nursing of Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Sri Amritsar celebrated World Blood Donation Day on the theme “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives” on 14th June, 2025 at Medicine OPD of Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital, Sri Amritsar.

On this day, to create awareness among the OPD patients and attendants regarding 'Importance of Blood Donation' students of B.Sc.(N) Semester-VIII (Interns) organized a Role Play on the topic 'Myths Related to Blood Donation and Importance of Blood Donation to Save Many Lives'.

·        To mark the global celebration of International Yoga Day, the SGRD College of Nursing, in collaboration with the Department of Physiotherapy, organized a vibrant and enlightening event under the Yoga Sangam Flagship Initiative on 21st June 2025. The theme for this year was "Yoga for One Earth, One Health", emphasizing the holistic benefits of yoga in promoting individual wellbeing and social harmony. The event was supported by Igo Global and Art of Living. A team of trained yoga instructors led the session with a demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), which included various asanas, pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation practices. Faculty members and 120 students actively participated in the session, reflecting the spirit of unity and wellness.

July 2025

·        The Exhibition On Models And Posters in the subject of Nursing Foundation, Medical Surgical Nursing and Child Health Nursing was organized by Ms. Manmeet Kaur, Dr. Kiranpreet Kaur, Ms. Akashpreet Kaur on 11th July, 2025 at LT-II Nursing College. The program witnessed great enthusiasm and participation from students of B.Sc.(N) II, IV, VII Semester.

·        Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing organized “Jashan-e-Ruksat” for the outgoing nursing students on 17th July, 2025 in the Auditorium at Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research. Dr. Manjit Singh Uppal (Vice-Chancellor, SGRD UHS), Dr. Anupama Mahajan (Director Principal, SGRD IMS&R) graced the occasion with their presence. The program started with ‘Shabad Gayan’ followed by welcome speech by Dr. Manpreet Kaur (Principal, SGRD CON). She wished the students to make great progress in the future. Variety of performances were arranged by junior nursing students as a tribute to their seniors like Group Dance, Bhangra and Modeling competition with lots of energy and enthusiasm. Dr. Manjit Singh Uppal, Dr. Anupama Mahajan and Dr. Manpreet Kaur and Mrs. Iqbal Kaur (Nursing Superintendent), honoured the topper students of various batches with Cash prizes and Certificates. Miss Jasmein Kaur (B.Sc.(N) Semester-VI) student was crowned with the title “MISS. FAREWELL”. Miss Kamalpreet Kaur (Post Basic B.Sc.(N) 2nd Year and Miss. Navjit Kaur (GNM 3rd Year) were awarded with the title “1st and 2nd RUNNER UP” respectively. The Jashan-e-Ruksat concluded with a photo session to capture the admired memories of the day and vote of thanks.

·        On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day, (Theme – Let’s Break it down) the Medical-Surgical Nursing Department of Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Vallah, Sri Amritsar, organized a meaningful awareness programme on 28th July, 2025 at Medical OPD of Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital, Vallah, Amritsar. Nearly 50 patients and their attendants attended the programme. GNM 2nd Year Nursing Students performed Role Play and delivered Health Talks regarding detailed information on Hepatitis B and C, including transmission, symptoms, and preventive measures. Subsequently, Dr. Mohit Sharma and Dr. Manish Chandey addressed the gathering, shared valuable insights about hepatitis, its impact on public health, and effective strategies for prevention and control. The event concluded with a motivational speech by Principal College of Nursing Dr. Manpreet Kaur, who appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty for organizing the programme and emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about hepatitis in the community. GNM 2nd Year students also prepared posters and Two Best Posters were awarded with prizes and certificates. Patients and attendants who gave the correct answers during feedback session were also given prizes.

August 2025

·        Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing along with the Department of Pediatrics, Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital, Vallah, Sri Amritsar celebrated Breastfeeding Week on 6th August, 2025 under the theme "Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems." The event captured enthusiastic participation from GNM 2nd Year students. Activities included theme-based Poster Competition and Role-Play. Posters were displayed and the Role Play was performed by the students at Pediatric OPD, SGRD Charitable Hospital. The aim of this program was to create awareness regarding the benefits of breastfeeding. The program was attended by 20 mothers, students and faculty.

·        Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing celebrated National Anti-Ragging Mahotsav on 13 August, 2025 on the theme “Say No To Ragging”. Dr. Amandeep Kaur Bajwa (Nodal Officer, Anti-Ragging Committee) delivered an informative talk about maintaining dignity and mutual respect in student interaction session. Students were also informed about psychological and legal implications of ragging. B.Sc.(N) Semester-I students prepared posters and took pledge to re-affirm their commitment for creating a safe and respectful environment. 

·        As per the instructions of  Directorate, Social Securiy and Woman & Child Development, as part of the nationwide campaign “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan”SGRD College of Nursing organized an awareness program on 13.08.2025 to educate  Nursing students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage them to lead a drug-free life.

The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Principal SGRD College of Nursing who stressed the importance of youth participation in creating a drug-free society. Ms. Amanpreet Khera, Nursing Tutor highlighted the physical, mental, and social consequences of drug addiction. Real-life case examples and statistics were shared to make the message impactful. Interactive discussions allowed participants to express their views and ask questions. A Pledge Ceremony was held where all students, faculty, and staff raised their hands and solemnly vowed to stay away from drugs, motivate peers to do the same, and contribute to building a healthier, addiction-free nation. Nearly 150 students attended the event.

·        To mark the importance of Organ Donation and spread awareness among the community, SGRD Collge of Nursing organized an Organ Donation Awareness Program on 13.08.2025. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Principal SGRD College of Nursing who emphasized that “One Organ Donor Can Save Up To Eight Lives.” Faculty, members, students, and patients visting the OPD attended the event with great enthusiasm.  Under the supervision of Ms. Parveen Patrick and Ms. Amanpreet Khera, Nursing Tutors, GNM  Students performed engaging role plays, informative health talk in Main OPD. Ms. Sukhwinder Kaur, Demonstrator presented a Seminar on the topic of “Organ Donation – Gift of Life.” to sensitize the students about types of organ donation, donor registration process, and ethical considerations.
A creative poster-making competition was organized for students, with themes like “Donate Life,” “Be an Organ Donor,” and “Your Organs Can Save Lives.” Two best posters were also awarded with prizes and certificates. 

September 2025

·        On the occasion of Teacher's Day, B.Sc.(N) Semester-I students of Sri Guru Ram Das college of Nursing organised an get together for students and teachers. Various activities were held to mark the student-teacher relationship. To pay homage to victims of flood One-Day salary was donated by the teaching and non-teaching faculty for Punjab Flood Relief Measures initiated by Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Sri Amritsar to express solidarity, compassion and unity with the people of Punjab.

·        21st SNA Biennial Punjab State Conference was held at Khalsa College of Nursing, Amritsar on 19th September, 2025. Nursing Students of B.Sc.(N) and G.N.M of Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing participated in various events and WON 13 Prizes  (4- First Positions, 7- Second Positions, 2- Third Positions).

·        World Heart Day was celebrated on 29th September, 2025 with theme of “Don’t Miss A Beat” at Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Nawan Pind, Amritsar, organized by Department of Medical Surgical Nursing. The event was inaugurated by the Principal Mrs. Narinder Kaur and all faculty of Dept of Medical Surgical Nursing of SGRD College of Nursing. Approximate 200 students attended this event. Health Education was given by M.Sc.(N) students covering risk factors for heart, prevention and DASH diet. Students of B.Sc.(N) Semester-V performed Yoga Assana to release stress and makes heart healthy. Ms. Rupinder Kaur (Associate Professor) gave CPR training to students followed by ECG Dance and physical activities. Fun Learning Quiz was organized for students and winners were given Prizes.

·        Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Awareness Month under the theme “Closing Gaps, Elevating Care", was celebrated by OBG department, on 30th Sept, 2025, at Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing. The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Manan (Senior Resident of Gynae. Department). She delivered an informative talk highlighting the causes, lifestyle modifications, and medical interventions related to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Her insightful session created awareness and encouraged students to adopt healthy practices. B.Sc (N) Semester 7th students participated in posters and slogan writing competition. The winners were honored with prizes and certificates.

October 2025

·        World Mental Health Day 2025 was celebrated on 10th October, 2025. Nursing students and Nursing Officers participated in the entire event with lots of enthusiasm. The event was held on the theme of the day “ACCESS TO SERVICES: CATASTROPHES AND EMERGENCIES”.

The Inauguration was done by Plantation of Trees by Dr. Anupama Mahajan, Director Principal, SGRD IMS&R along with Faculty and Nursing Officers in Psychiatry Ward of SGRD Charitable hospital. Dr. Manjeet Singh  (HOD & Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry) addressed the gathering. Dr. Amandeep Kaur Bajwa (HOD & Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry Nursing) highlighted about the Day's Theme. Dr. Malvika Dahuja & Dr. Piyush Mahajan explained about mental health emergencies & catastrophes and its management. Dr. Amandeep Singh focused on complementary therapies to manage mental health emergencies. Thereafter, Post Basic B.Sc.(N) 2nd Year did a Role Play to educate the urgent need that can be provided during psychiatric emergencies. Dr. Sukhbir Kaur and Ms. Gurjeet Kaur organized Feedback Session with the patients and attendants. B.Sc.(N) Semester-V participated in Poster Making Competition and Winners were awarded with certificates. 

·        CPR Awareness Week was celebrated from 13.10.2025 to 17.10.2025 at Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing, Sri Amritsar. This initiative aims to enhance awareness, preparedness and capacities in performing CPR. 100 students of B.Sc.(N) Semester-III participated in CPR Pledge, Panel Discussion and Online Quiz. Various awareness activities were undertaken by the institute i.e Poster Competition, Quiz Competition and Mass Demonstration on CPR.

·        SGRD College of Nursing celebrated National Unity Day on 31st October 2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. The program began with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of National Unity Day and the contributions of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Faculty members and students of BSc (Nursing) 1st Year took the pledge "Run for Unity", spreading the message of strength in unity and national integration. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all participants and organizers.

·     M.Sc. Nursing students and B.Sc. Nursing students accompanied by Mrs. Manmeet Kaur (Associate Professor), attended the 3rd Annual National Conference of the Pediatric and Neonatal Nurses Forum, India (PNNFICON 2025) from 30.10.2025 to 1.11.2025 held at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Chandigarh.

·     An awareness session on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was conducted on 18th November, 2025 at SGRD College of Nursing, under the guidance of Dr. (Prof.) Amandeep Kaur Bajwa and with participation from faculty members and students. The program was organized to sensitize the nursing students about the ill effects of drug abuse and to urge them for an active contribution in building a drug-free society.

·        The Department of Child Health Nursing of SGRD College of Nursing celebrated, Newborn Week (15-21Nov) based on the theme “SAFETY, QUALITY AND NURTURING CARE – Birth Right of Every Newborn.” The programme aimed to create awareness among parents regarding essential newborn care practices that ensure healthy growth and development.

Thoughout the week various activities were held and Students of B.Sc. Nursing (3rd year) and post basic nursing (1st year) participated. The culmination of the event was carried out in the pediatric OPD. The event was graced by Dr. Gursharan Singh, Head of the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Principal cum Professor SGRD College of Nursing and other faculty members.

Students performed a role play highlighting crucial aspects of safety, quality care, and nurturing practices for newborns.

·        31st SNAI Biennial National Conference was held at MIT University, Pune from 19th to 22nd November, 2025 in which State Level winners participated. Ms. Sehajpreet Kaur Dhillon, GNM 2nd Year student was nominated as Punjab State SNAI Chairperson and led the Cultural Parade at the Conference. She also participated in SNAI National Level Meeting. Students represented Punjab in Three competitions i.e On the Spot Poster Making Competition and Sports Events- Shot Put (Female) and Discus Throw (Female). Nursing student Ms. Ashmeet Kaur (B.Sc. Nursing-Semester-V) scored 3rd Position in Shot Put Game at National Level.

·        Nursing students of B.Sc.(N) Sem-7 , Ms. Yashasvi and Ms. Shubhkarman Kaur participated in Debate Competition in 4th International Virtual Nursing Conference on "Age Related Trends in Management of Addictive Behavioural Disorder and Substance Use Disorder" organised by Institute of Psychiatry-Centre Of Excellence, Kolkata, NAINA and Acute Behavioural Disorders & Substance Use Disorders Care-group, India, held on 23-24 November, 2025 from 2.00pm to 9.00pm. Both students cleared the First-Round of competition and Ms. Yashasvi secured Second Position among all the participants at India level.

·        Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 26th November 2025 at SGRD College of Nursing to honor the adoption of the Constitution of India and to pay tribute to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution.

The program began with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of Constitution Day and its historical background. Faculty members addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of constitutional values such as justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity in building a strong and democratic nation.

A Preamble reading ceremony was conducted where nearly 150 nursing students, faculty, and staff collectively recited the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, reaffirming their commitment to uphold democratic principles. A film on the fundamental rights and duties of citizens was also shown to students. Students also participated online on “constitution75.com” portal and generated their e-certificates.

·        On behalf of the Alumni committee of Sri Guru Ram Das college of nursing, an inspiring alumni talk was organized on 2/12/2025 featuring Ms. Prabhdeep Kaur, a distinguished alumna of our institution who is currently serving as an Clinical educator at San Joaquin General hospital, and an Adjunct Professor at San Joaquin Delta college in the United States. The session aimed to motivate students by exposing them to global academic opportunities, career paths and the importance of continuous learning. As an Adjunct Professor. Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Principal SGRD college of nursing presented a token of appreciation to her to underscore her marked contribution as a proud alumni.

·        The department of Child health Nursing of SGRD College of Nursing celebrated, World Patient Safety Day on 08.12.2025, in the Hospital Lecture Theatre, with a special focus on promoting safe, high-quality care for newborns and children. The event was attended by the Nursing Officers, MSc (CHN) student and B.Sc. Nursing (3rd year, Batch 2023) students who enacted a Role Play . M.Sc.(N) students presented the significance of patient safety in health care along with 6 international patient safety goals. Ms. Rupinder Kaur as a Patient safety officer of hospital shared valuable information with the nursing officers regarding patient safety protocols being used in the hospital.

·        On 9th December, 2025, Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing organised its Annual Sports Meet 2025. Dr. Manjit Singh Uppal, Vice Chancellor, SGRDUHS, graced the occasion as chief guest and encouraged the students to give maximum participation in sports activities. The Sports meet started with the march past of the four different houses, followed by Shabad recitation. After that Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Principal, SGRD College of Nursing welcomed the chief guest, faculty and students, and highlighted the importance of sports for physical and mental health. Students were divided into FOUR houses named as Sabar (Red Color), Sidak (Blue Color), Santokh (Green Color), Sehaj (Yellow Color), actively participated in the various sports events. The students competed against each other in different sports events. The day concluded with an award ceremony. The winners were felicitated with medals, trophies, and certificates by the Principal. The overall Champion’s trophy was won by SABAR (Red) House.  

·        Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing organized “NOUVEAU FEST” for the Fresher nursing students on 16 December, 2025 in the Auditorium of Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research. Dr. Manjit Singh Uppal (Vice-Chancellor, SGRD UHS), Dr. Anupama Mahajan (Director Principal, SGRD IMS&R) graced the occasion with their gracious presence.

Event began with the ‘Recitation of Shabad’ followed by welcome speech by Dr. Manpreet Kaur (Principal, SGRD CON). Dr. Manjit Singh Uppal also encouraged nursing students for enhancing the standard of nursing and wish them for their better future. Nursing students participated in various cultural events like Classical Dance, Bhangra, Singing and Modeling competition with lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Topper students from all the courses were given cash prizes along with certificates. Miss Navtaj Kaur (B.Sc.(N) 1st Year) student was crowned with the title “MISS. FRESHER”. Miss Mehakdeep Kaur (B.Sc.(N) 1st Year) and Miss. Damanpreet Kaur (GNM 1st Year) was awarded with the title “1st and 2nd RUNNER UP” respectively. Mr. Manik Kumar (B.Sc.(N) 1st Year) was given the title "MR. VERSATILE"

·        As per the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Suo Moto W.P. NO. 5/2025 titled “In Re: City Hounded by Strays, Kids Pay Price" and Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, Series of sessions on the topic "City Hounded by Strays, Kids Pay Price" were delivered by Ms. Poonamdeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Child Health Nursing in Rotation from 20.12.2025 to 29.12.2025. Through the lecture she sensitized all nursing students about Mode of transmission of Rabies, its sign and symptoms, therapeutic management, laboratory diagnoses, its preventive measures and vaccination regarding dog bite.

·        To pay homage towards Shaheedi Sabha, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, an awareness talk about "Organ Donation" was held on 25.12.2025. Students were made aware about significance of Organ Donation and, donor registration process through NOTTO portal. Faculty & Students expressed their willingness to become voluntary Organ Donor and dissemination of message to their families and community.
